Eighth Ward Endorses 2006 Ballot Issues

Oct 19, 2006 -

The Eighth Ward Independent Democratic Association heard speakers from both sides of several controversial ballot initiatives at their endorsement meeting.  Private discussion was followed by a vote.  The EWIDA encourages voters to vote YES on these state and local ballost issues: 

  • Amendment 2 - enabling stem cell research
  • Amendment 3 - Tobacco tax-funded health initiatives
  • Prop B - Raising the minimum wage
  • Prop R - City residency requirement for City police officers and employees
  • Prop P - 1/8 cent sales tax for City recreation facilities
